Sexual Harassment

IT’S THE LAW. The New York State Department of Labor mandates that ALL businesses in New York State must comply with expanded requirements in the State’s sexual harassment prevention law.

As of October 9, 2018, all employers must have in-place a sexual harassment prevention policy and a sexual harassment complaint form.

If you do not have a policy and complaint form, or if you want to compare your documents to a state-approved model, you can download customizable templates from NYSLTA.

The law also requires employers to provide sexual harassment prevention training to all employees and contractors annually. The law states training must be completed by October 9, 2019.

The NYSLTA provides Members access to free training for your employees, a certificate of completion and an annual reminder notice. The NYSLTA will retain these records for employers and employees to reference. Employees may take the training anytime after logging-in and print out their own certificate.

To access the on-demand free training and certification, employees must have a personal profile on the Member web site (nyslta.site-ym.com).  Please contact NYSLTA Staff if you need assistance creating accounts for your staff or help logging-in to existing profiles.

The sexual harassment prevention training will be available to Members via the Member web site.
