The NYSLTA is the only statewide organization that represents the interests of title insurance underwriter corporations, independent title agents, abstracters and other title professionals.
The Association's advocacy work is guided by three basic concerns.
The Consumer – Ensure the value and continued consumer confidence in the financial product we provide.
The Marketplace - Minimize disruptions to the real estate finance marketplace and preserve business practices consistent with the concern's of the consumer.
The Title Industry – Benefit the consumer and preserve the marketplace by establishing among industry practitioners a clear understanding of rules and regulations to achieve maximum compliance and a level playing field.
Advocacy is one of the most important functions of the Land Title Association.
While theLegislative Committee reviews and monitors bills introduced in the State Senate and the Assembly, our strongest tool and most effective resource is the individual and group action of the Association Members who communicate directly with their elected representatives.
Members visit legislators in their home district and every year travel as a group to Albany to advance Association interests on a range of issues. NYSLTA also sends a contingent to Washington, DC to participate in the American Land Title Association's Federal Conference.
If title insurance or a related field is the source of your livelihood, you protect your own interests as well as the title industry by being an active advocate. Contact the NYSLTA Staff Office to find out how you can help make a difference.
Title Action Network (TAN)
The Title Action Network (TAN) is a voluntary, non-partisan and free nationwide grassroots lobbying network of title insurance, abstract and real estate settlement services professionals, affiliated with the American Land Title Association (ALTA). TAN is dedicated to strengthening the industry's voice and lobbying power in Washington, DC, and state capitals across America. (from ALTA.org)
TAN has enabled NYSLTA to focus its energy and make your voice heard in Albany on many occasions. Find out how you can become a TAN Member at http://www.alta.org/tan/joinConsent_1.cfm.
